About TrustyGarageDoor
We exist because finding a trustworthy garage door company shouldn't be a gamble — and in this industry, it too often is.
Built from the inside out
TrustyGarageDoor wasn't started by a marketing company that spotted a niche. It was built by people who run garage door service operations — who spent years dispatching technicians, taking customer calls, and watching what happens when homeowners in urgent situations reach the wrong company first.
The pattern was consistent: a homeowner calls a company that advertises "$29 service calls." A technician shows up, opens the door, and delivers a verbal quote three to five times what was implied. The car is now accessible, the garage door is in pieces on the floor, and the leverage has shifted completely. Most people pay. The good companies — the ones quoting honestly from the start — lose business to that dynamic repeatedly.
TrustyGarageDoor was built to change that routing decision. When someone needs a garage door company, we want the first call to reach a vetted, insured, honest operator — not whichever company bought the top Google Ads slot that week.
Our mission
Make it simple for any homeowner or business, anywhere in the US, to reach a vetted, insured, honest garage door professional on the first call — without research, without risk, and without paying for the privilege.
A referral service, not a garage door company
TrustyGarageDoor does not roll trucks, employ technicians, or perform repairs. We are a referral network: we research, vet, and partner with established, independent local garage door companies in each metro area we cover. When you call, we connect you with the right one. The company we send quotes you directly before any work begins; you pay them for work you approve. Our referral service is completely free for homeowners.
We say this on every page — not because we're required to, but because trust built on unclear premises isn't trust. The garage door industry already has enough opacity. We're not adding to it.
How a company earns a place in our network
Insurance verification
Active general liability coverage, confirmed before joining the network and rechecked periodically. We ask for the certificate, not the claim.
License confirmation
Where the state or city requires a contractor license or registration — Arizona ROC, Florida contractor licensing, Chicago GC license, Texas TDLR, and others — we verify it directly with the issuing authority.
Track record review
Years in business under the same name, review history across platforms, complaint patterns, and whether they've changed business names recently (a common tactic for laundering a complaint record).
Upfront pricing commitment
Companies in our network commit to quoting the price on-site, before work begins, with the customer's approval required. Bait-and-switch pricing complaints get companies removed — not warned.
Ongoing monitoring
We monitor review signals and customer feedback continuously. A company that passes the initial vetting but generates pattern complaints doesn't stay in the network. The standard is maintained, not just checked once at the door.
How we write about garage doors
Every guide, cost article, and troubleshooting resource on this site is written and reviewed with working garage door service professionals. See our contributors page for the field technicians and home services writers who review TrustyGarageDoor's content. We don't publish price ranges we haven't cross-referenced against actual invoices from multiple markets. We don't describe repair procedures we haven't verified against manufacturer documentation and technician practice.
We identify sponsored content, referral relationships, and the nature of our business model prominently — not in 6-point footnotes. If you see a price range on this site, it reflects what the real market looks like in 2025–2026 across the metros we operate in, not a number optimized to look impressive.
When we're uncertain, we say so. When prices vary by market in ways that matter, we break them out by city. When a "fix" only applies to certain door types, we say which ones.
How we make money
TrustyGarageDoor is a free referral service that connects you with independent, locally owned garage door companies in your area. We are not a garage door contractor and do not perform repairs ourselves. The professionals in our network are independent businesses responsible for their own work, licensing, and pricing. We may receive a fee from contractors for connecting them with customers, at no cost to you.
You never pay us. The referral fee does not change the price you pay the contractor — companies pay for qualified customer connections instead of spending the same money on advertising that doesn't filter for quality. Our financial incentive is to send you to good companies, because bad companies generate complaints, lose their network placement, and end the revenue relationship. The incentives are aligned.
20+ cities, growing monthly
We currently serve major metros and their suburbs in Texas, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Colorado, North Carolina, and Florida. Each city we add gets the same vetting process applied to its local companies — we don't expand faster than we can vet responsibly. See the full coverage map on our locations section.
If we're not in your city yet, call the national line anyway. We may be able to connect you with a vetted company in your area, and we track request patterns to prioritize where we expand next.
